Health Policies

To obtain a visa students must be able to show proof of repatriation insurance. In a few cases, students are requried to subscribe to the insurance provided by the school's carrier for their studies abroad. In most instances, however, students need to subscribe to the insurance provided through IAU by Generali Assurances, a French insurance company. If a student needs to purchase Generali health insurance, it will be noted on the checklist received with the acceptance packet.

The cost of the Generali health insurance is included with the program fee; to receive coverage, students need only complete the two-page application form found in the "Required Forms" section of this website.

All medical expenses must be paid immediately in Euros and are reimbursed later. Medical care in France is very modern and cost-effective. Reimbursement of medical bills is fast and efficient.

High risk sports such as rock climbing, skiing, bobsledding, diving, rowing, parachuting and any other aerial sport, as well as participation in any professional sport competition require on-site purchase of insurance to cover costs of injuries or accidents.

Students should be aware that disability services in France are not on par with those in the US. Non-traditional students over 65 years of age are not eligible for the Institute's insurance and should therefore ensure their personal policy covers them while abroad.
