Description
Renovated 16th-century church, La Chapelle des Pénitents Bleus. Situated on the famed “Route de Cézanne”, the Marchutz School of Art, designed by architect Ferdinand Pouillon, offers 24hr access to a light filled studio in a Provençal setting.  Updated 13th-century Chapelle St. Antoine in the heart of Avignon, near the Papal Palace.

Curriculum Curriculum Overview European Studies curriculum -Humanities and Social Sciences courses conducted in English. Introductory to Advanced French language and literature courses conducted in French. Beginning to Advanced Painting and Drawing coursework combined with intensive art criticism seminar & museum study. Art component is conducted in English. Interdisciplinary, holistic curricular design complemented by French language and Art History courses. Advanced University coursework in a variety of disciplines (Philosophy, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, History, Literature, Cinema, Linguistics, Translation and Stylistics, Literatures) conducted in French in an all French center.

Faculty Faculty/Staff Qualifications Faculty at the Aix Center hold advanced French and/or American degrees.
Jacqueline Chanda, Academic Dean and Director of the Aix Center holds a PhD in African Art History from the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Faculty of the Marchutz School of Art hold advanced American degrees.
Alan Roberts, Director of the Marchutz School of Art, holds an MFA from Vermont College.
Faculty at Le Centre d’Avignon hold advanced French and/or American degrees.

Admissions Admissions Requirements Applicants must be 18 or older, and should have completed a minimum of one year of college and have a 2.50/4.0 GPA. Prior French study is not required.
