It is my pleasure to welcome you to IAU. As the oldest and largest American Institute in Southern France, we have been educating students in the arts, humanities and social sciences since 1957. During your stay, our faculty and staff will strive to provide you with a learning environment that is challenging, yet supportive of your academic and personal interests and needs. We want you to succeed while you are here, and equally important, we want to help guide and prepare you for the global world.
As you will learn while reading through our website, IAU is evolving and striving to meet the needs of today's students. Our newly purchased building in Aix-en-Provence, now completely renovated, creates a campus atmosphere and enables us to expand our curriculum and student services. In addition, we are reaching beyond France by opening our inaugural program in Spain, a summer and semester option, in Barcelona. In short, plenty of exciting options await new students.
In the nearly fifty-five years of existence, IAU has acquired an alumni roster of over 20,000 students; it has played a major part in preparing teachers, diplomats, linguists, international educators and administrators, Peace Corps professionals and business men and women for their role in the present-day world. It is our hope that your participation at IAU will be just as fruitful. We look forward to welcoming you soon to one of the many programs at IAU.
